Prego

This was my first time to Prego and I was sure I'll be back again soon :D

The Food Hold's review on Prego

Ambience:

Although the restaurant was not as lavishly decorated as one would expect of a 5-star hotel's restaurant, it gave a rather cozy feel, more of a place people come for their food and do some chit chat instead of decor-gazing.

Food:

Bread, Breadsticks... @ Prego
foodspotting.com

A box of them will be given to every table and consist of from left: bread, crackers, and bread sticks. Depending on the number of guests at the table, they may give more than a box. I went with a party of six and was given 2, but the bread was simply too delicious so we asked for 1 more :D The bread tasted great with a faint smell of herbs (or spices), and tasted even better if you dip it into vinegar and olive oil! It was quite filling, so beware not to over-eat them. (which was what happened to me...)

The squid ink pasta ($36) tasted quite different from the others outside. While others focus on getting the 'fishy' smell away, their squid ink pasta comes with the smell, but not very strong though. It got me pondering before I came to a realisation that "Hey, it's afterall a squid ink pasta right? So how can it not have the 'fishy' squid ink smell? Otherwise, it wouldn't be very natural, isn't it?"

The spaghetti had a good texture to it, sauce was well-blended and the tiger prawns were big, fresh and crunchy. Overall, I would still recommend this dish! However, if you are the kind that cannot tolerate 'fishy' smells, would suggest you order and share with your companions :)

Another dish I personally enjoyed was a smoked salmon pizza. Made of thin crust, and the combination of the thin smoked salmon slice and cheese was really good. When you bite into the salmon slice, the cheese from below would ooze through...Ahh...tasty combination..

The tiramisu ($14) was their 'House Signature' and is a must try if you visit Prego! The serving slice was bigger than the usual size served outside and so 2 person to one slice would be just nice (unless you are a super fan of tiramisu!).

Price:
The price may be a little on the high side but it is quite worth it as the quality is there. And since Prego is a restaurant in a hotel, it's the expected range of prices. Their full menu, listed with prices can be found on the Swissotel website -> http://www.swissotel.com/hotels/singapore-stamford/dining/prego-restaurant-deli/

(Ps: If you have the hotel member card, discounts will be given according to the number of guests at the table.)
